∟Series «Homeless» (page 2 of 2)
Four friends who help each other and stick together:
The first, a slim man with tanned skin and a soft look. Charming, caring, dutiful and orderly. The second is tall, has strong hands and curly, white hair. Speaks amicably with a pleasant accent. The third has an athletic figure and often makes jokes. He expresses his creativity through drawings. The fourth, rather short, views things critically with a keen eye. He is calm and doesn't speak much.
On the whole, everything is "normal". Or isn't it?
For different reasons, the four friends fail to lead a "normal" life. They don't have a permanent domicile. Not everyone in their family knows about their present way of living. They struggle daily to survive. To ease the strain they often drink alcohol and are stuck in this behavior. The alcohol also contributes to this instable lifestyle: In the morning, the brutal process of waking and getting up with shaky hands and legs. Obtaining money for the first beer or the first bottle of wine. Drinking afterwards throughout the day and late into the night. Having to find a safe place to sleep, which is one of their biggest worries.
A public parking lot, around the public toilet, is the center of their life. They assign vacant parking places to car drivers and guard their cars, hoping for a cigarette or loose change. Their lives take place at this parking lot.
The four friends show us how close together happiness and misfortune can be. Their situation is touching and provocative. What can we do? I don't have the answer, but I do know that compassion and respect are appropriate.
